Summer Schools


Leiden Law School offers several events during the summer months in cooperation wilth Columbia University, New York and Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies in The Hague.
Columbia Summer Program
The Columbia Summer Program is proud to announce the fourty-eighth Summer Program in American Law. It will take place at Leiden University Law School from 5-30 July 2010.

Since 1963 these summer courses are held alternately at the Leiden Law School and at the Amsterdam Law School and are designed to provide a general introduction to the American legal system for lawyers and others interested in the program.

Besides the excellent educational aspects, the Columbia Summer Program is also known for its exceptional fine atmosphere amongst participants and professors from Columbia University. Further information can be found on the Columbia Summer Program website.
Summer Program on International Criminal Law
The Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies is proud to announce its first (four weeks) Summer Program on International Criminal Law for American and Canadian graduate law students in the Summer of 2010. The Grotius Centre has been organizing Summer Schools since 2003, for students and young professionals as well as for researchers. In light of its expertise and experience, the Grotius Centre can offer a top-quality Summer Program. Students enrolled in the Summer Program will be attending hearings at the International Criminal Court and the ICTY, visit the Peace Palace, and enjoy the privilege of participating in classes, seminars and practical excercises taught by practioners from the international courts and tribunals and by Leiden University Academic staff.

Apart from the academic program, for which students can earn 10 European Credits, the program includes many extracurricular activities.

Bilingual Summer School on International Criminal Law
The Summer School on International Criminal Law is organised by the Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies, and held in The Hague, the City of Peace and Justice. In light of its location and the quality of its contributors from Leiden University and the international courts and tribunals, this School offers a unique opportunity for (nearly) graduated law students and young professionals to gain expertise in international criminal law in two weeks time. Lectures will be given in English or French. Simultaneous translation will be provided during all classes.
