On 17 November 2014, the Leiden Law School and the University of Beihang, China signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Prof. Dr. Rick Lawson, Dean of the Leiden Law School and executive-Dean Wang Qiquan signed the MoU to establish a closer cooperation between the Leiden Law School and specifically the International Institute of Air and Space Law (IIASL) and University of Beihang.

On 6 November 2014, the International Institute of Air and Space Law (IIASL) and the Centre for Air and Space Law (CASL) of the Universitas Padjajaran (UNPAD) in Bandung, Indonesia signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
Aviation safety is of global concern. Yet 43% of countries worldwide lack the expertise and administrative capacity to ensure effective safety oversight of the aviation activities for which they are responsible under international law.
