Curriculum Vitae
Ph.D Fellow A. (Armin) Cuyvers (MJur Oxon) graduated summa cum laude in Civil law (burgerlijk recht), International and European law, and Jurisprudence from the University of Leiden. During his studies he, amongst other things, studied for six months as a visiting student at Harvard College and Harvard Law School and worked for a Member of Parliament. After graduating in the Netherlands he received his Magister Juris title from Exeter College, University of Oxford with distinction. Since 2006 he is a PhD Fellow of the Europa Institute an the department of legal philosophy of Leiden University, where he teaches both Dutch and English spoken courses. In 2007 he was a visiting professor at Bilgi University in Istanbul.

His thesis concerns the application of constitutional theory to the European Union. By applying insights from constitutional theory it is hoped a new, and constructive, light can be shed on the nature and problems of the European Union. He also regularly participates in advisory projects on European law, such as recently in projects for the Asian Development Bank on economic integration in Europe, for the FNCCR (organization of French local governments) on European energy law and its implementation in different Member States, for CFR on the compatibility of Dutch gaming regulation with European law, and for the Ministry of Economic Affairs on Services of General Economic Interest and the implementation of European law in the Dutch legal order.
